Chaplain's Notes

A warm welcome to all today especially if you are a visitor. We trust you enjoy your stay in Brussels and worshipping with us today. Please join us after the morning service for coffee and drinks in the side aisle. You are most welcome to stay around and talk. If you are new please make yourself known especially to the clergy; we would be grateful if you would fill in a yellow card at the Welcome Table.

Mothering Sunday. The 10.30am service (All Age Worship) only will mark Mothering Sunday. Today we offer our thanks and gratitude to those who mothered us. Apart from my own late Mother, I was wonderfully mothered by an early teacher at school called Miss Allen. I am sure that many folk share a similar experience to me. All our women folk are invited to take a rose at the close of the service.

AGM. Our thanks to all who came to the AGM or who kindly sent their apologies. Both our wardens - Alison Rose and Peter Mackenzie – stood down and a literal 'au revoir' to Peter who is now in Canada for the next six months. They were both warmly thanked for their toil among us which was way beyond the call of duty. We also formerly thanked Lucy Whittles, Nick Fulford and Richard Langrish who stood down as councilors and Dorothy Strack who left the Archdeaconry Synod last year. The following were elected:

Churchwardens: Pat Thomas & Ninette Dodoo.

Council: Jonna Byskata,Leon Midson, Ralph Wilkinson.

Archdeaconry Synod: Peter Arthern.

The AGM took note of the imminence of the start of the building project(!) and the fact that there is funding in place for three of the four contracts.

The AGM also approved the Constitution and establishment of Holy Trinity as an AISBL. The resolutions passed are in the AGM papers. Our special thanks to Heather Roy, Richard Langrish, and Noel Anselot who have worked hard for us in this matter.

Peter Walley. Council agreed to extend Peter's contract to summer 2005 and to give him the title of Associate Chaplain.

Lent Series (last one, please note different day):

Tuesday 8 April: Environmental Issues. Tape by Peter Harris (A Rocha). (Chair: Annali Bamber-Jones, A Rocha)                  Nigel Walker

The Mission focus for March is Mission East. All loose change from the plate collections taken at the 4 services last Sunday will go towards their work.

Centenary Renovation Project - Those of you who attended the AGM on 24th March should have received a personal letter explaining progress on the project and requesting your support in what we hope will be the final stage of the appeal. If you have not yet received your letter please collect it following today's service. We plan a pledge Sunday at Pentecost (8th June). Your generosity to date has ensured that the bulk of the project can start in the next couple of weeks. We now ask every member of our congregation to consider carefully how much you can pledge to donate later this year (or spread over the next 12 months) to help us finalise the work. More pledge forms will be issued with the newsletter in May, and these (or the copies already included with your letter) can be brought to the Pentecost services, or placed in the pigeon hole of Andrew Johnson (in a sealed envelop please). With your continued support the work of God in Brussels can be further strengthened, through the realisation of this exciting project.

YOUTH AND CHILDREN

Thank you so much for two video recorders and one TV kindly given by individuals.  Unfortunately the TV cannot be persuaded to produce sound, perhaps because it is from the UK.  We need a TV engineer to have a look at it. Could anyone help?  We use it only for showing videos to groups of children.  In the meantime we would like to appeal for another TV if anyone has a spare one.  Please contact Mary on 02/770 77 15.
