Holy Trinity Newsletter

4 May 2003

A warm welcome to all today especially if you are a visitor. We trust you enjoy your stay in Brussels and worshipping with us today. Please join us after the morning service for coffee and drinks in the side aisle. You are most welcome to stay around and talk. If you are new please make yourself known especially to the clergy; we would be grateful if you would fill in a yellow card at the Welcome Table.

We welcome Mathieu Alain Corman, Yoeri Nikholai Pearcey Van Der Beek, Lucy Irene and Oliver Henri William Renquet, together with their families, godparents and friends who share with them in their baptism today. As is our present custom part of the service takes place in the Vestry before the Family Service at 10.30

Open Home, Open Bible The last class takes place on Tuesday (6 May) when we shall focus on the Last Things (the Return of Christ). About 20 people have availed themselves of this course (where a good deal of home work was required) and there was a regular attendance of about 12-14 per fortnight.

ICS Conference All the clergy of HTB have been at the Inter-Continental Church Society conference in Interlaken this week. This was a valuable opportunity for us to spend time with the many other continental chaplains who were there and to reflect, by listening to God's word, on the pastoral ministry to which we are committed.

INFORMATION

Intercessors, lesson readers, lay assistants etc Please would you put your 'away dates', at the latest by 11 May, on the form you have from Jennifer Le Jeune and send it to her or put it in her pigeon hole. Please notify any swapped duties to the Church Office by phone or fax.

The Mission focus for this month is on the work of the Protestant Christian Centre.

Centenary Renovation Project With the important permission received  for the first phase of the building work, and the authority for the rest of the work promised, the first contract was signed on 23 April. And the real work will begin at the end of May!  By now most of the congregation have collected the letters from the back of Church. If you have not already collected your letter outlining the final stage of our appeal and containing the pledge form, please inform Vicki at Church Office Monday to Thursday mornings. We will invite you to return your pledge form in a sealed envelope at special services on Pentecost Sunday, 6 June. Alternatively you can place yours (also in a sealed envelope) at any time in Andrew Johnson's pigeon hole in the porch. And finally we invite your prayers for the successful completion of this important work to strengthen the work of God here in Brussels.

The congregational singing at Holy Trinity is really very good! If you are one of those who makes it so, why not join the 10.30 Choir? We welcome all voices. A little elementary knowledge of music reading would help. We don't expect people to come every week this is Brussels! If you could sing occasionally speak to David Iliff at the organ after the service or speak to any member of the choir. Alternatively contact David on 02/767 71 40 or David.Iliff@Pandora.be

ADMIN NEWS

Keys please! Following the changes in Council, a number of keys need to be handed over to new members and people taking on new responsibilities within the church. We would be very grateful if those of you have keys to any of the gate, church or Church House doors would return them to Vicki at the Admin Office or slip them into the Church House letterbox in an envelope as soon as possible.

Some of these keys are extremely expensive to make spares of and any reduction of this kind of maintenance cost would enable us to spend the money saved on more urgent and essential items.

So if you have key you don't truly need, bring it back to us with all possible speed.

Thank you for your cooperation.

The French to English translation team is doing a wonderful job on the Newsletter, but the work would be made much lighter if two more brave volunteers came forward. If you master both languages well, and have some spare time, please get in touch with Vicki at the office.

Items for the Newsletter Please send these by 9.00 on Tuesdays to the Church Office or by e-mail to David.Iliff@Pandora.be Items for the 10 May Newsletter should be sent in before Tuesday 6 May.

A new 'HTB Classified' space has been created on the church website for all those Wanted Needed On Offer ads you would like to post up. Please send the exact text and format you want to appear to webmaster@htbrussels.com
