This Sunday's flowers are in loving memory of Willy Demoustiez.
A warm welcome to all today especially if you are a visitor. We trust you enjoy your stay in Brussels and worship with us today. Please join us after the morning service for coffee and drinks in the side aisle. You are most welcome to stay around and talk. If you are new please make yourself known especially to the clergy; we would be grateful if you would fill in a yellow card at the Welcome Table.
CHAPLAINS' NOTES
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. In the name of Christ. Amen!
No-one who knew Charles could fail to recognise his booming voice in response to the declarations at the end of the morning service. His passing early last Sunday morning has left a huge hole in all our lives, for Charles has been at the very centre of life at Holy Trinity since January 1969 when he and Jennifer and their young family returned from the Congo.
It wasn't simply that he dedicated himself in selfless acts of service, though there was little at HT that Charles has not done, it was more that he had such a huge heart to welcome people wherever they were from. Everyone felt that they had a special relationship with him.
His life was authentically Christian. Indeed if I were to choose a person who exemplified today the message of the epistle of 1 John, it would be Charles. His faith, tested over many years, expressed itself in countless selfless acts of kindness. He truly served his Lord by serving others.
Therefore we can give thanks today for him. We can give thanks that his final suffering was not prolonged; indeed as he died his face settled into a smile, relief no doubt that he was over his pain, but happiness too as he was received by our Lord.
We will miss you, Charles, dreadfully; but we thank you that you showed us so powerfully the way of love. Our love, our prayers and our thoughts are with Jennifer, Nick, Richard and Benjy.
The funeral service has been arranged for 10.30 on Thursday 5 June here at Holy Trinity. We will not be able to tell everyone personally, so if you think someone has not heard, please let them know. There will be a reception afterwards at the Hilton Hotel. Jennifer would be delighted to see as many people as possible there. Then the family will accompany Charles to the Crematorium.
We welcome today the family and friends of Richard and Alison Lapslie, as they bring their daughter Ishbel Iona Jane to baptism, and we pray together with them for God's richest blessing on Ishbel for her future life.
Charles Le Jeune I heard with the greatest sadness of Charles' death last
Sunday from Jennifer. Mary and I would like to express to her and the family,
through the Newsletter, our sincere love and prayers at this very sad time.
James Day and Sarah Pennington Mary and I had the pleasure of
visiting both
James and Sarah last week at Cambridge and Ware respectively. It was good to
see them both 'in situ'. James will be ordained in Antwerp on 5 July and Sarah
will be commissioned at Holy Trinity on 20 July. These are important dates in
the life of Holy Trinity.

Helpers needed! The Climbers and Scramblers groups could really benefit from some additional helpers for their Sunday morning activities. Could you give up one Sunday morning a month to help? If we could find at least four people then that is all you would have to do! If you would like to know more please contact Heather Roy at hjroy@yahoo.co.uk THANK YOU
Practical help needed! Do you have the soul of a DIY-er, or good arm muscles, and feel you could be called on very occasionally to put up a couple of shelves or help with some heavy lifting? The team at Church House would be very grateful to have a list of volunteers to call on for practical tasks. Please phone or e-mail Vicki at admin@htbrussels.com if you are willing to be on our SOS list. Many thanks.
To all those who use the photocopier in the church offices We are now in the process of detailing what the photocopying needs for each church group and committee are. This is an important step in a very necessary process of budget control. In order to do this, we are requesting that all users fill in the form on (or near!) the machine. Many thanks for your cooperation.
The church has been given three New English Bibles with apocrypha and one New English Bible New Testament. These bibles are quite old, but available to anyone who would wish to collect them from Church House. If you are interested, please call Vicki at the office first.
Definitely no dumping! We request that no second hand items be left in the church or at Church House at any time. We have no means of distributing them, and they are just wasted, which is a great shame when the 'Petits Riens' may be able to use them.
