INFORMATION

Children and Youth The normal programme of Children and Youth teaching at Holy Trinity is suspended for July and August. However most weeks there should be short activities available in Church House for part of the service time at 10.30. Currently there will be activities each week for the under 7s and we hope that there will be activities also for the over 7s.  This is the case for July.  In August however we do not yet know if we can offer a programme to the over 7s - we will keep you updated.

Flower Team Seeks Recruits If you enjoy the flowers at church please consider becoming part of the Flower Team. From July we shall only have three members. No previous experience is needed, just a love of flowers and a willingness to commit one morning (Friday or Saturday) a month and to help with the major festivals and weddings if available.  Potential volunteers are welcome to come and assist during the summer without obligation. More information from Sue Cox: 02/767 29 11 or cottoncox@hotmail.com or Diane Oppenheim.

The mission focus for July is CARE (Christian Action Research & Education) whose object is to promote Christian ethical values in public life and provide caring services for those who are suffering because of the lack of Christian ethics in society.

Their public policy teams include staff following the activities of all the UK parliaments, the UN and the European Institutions here in Brussels. These staff produce a weekly e-mail newsletter 'Impact Direct' to inform supporters of policy developments and seek their assistance through prayer and writing to key decision makers. CARE also provides bursaries for recent Christian graduates to explore the possibility of a career in public life through internships in UK parliaments and the European Parliament.

The caring services, which are primarily provided in the UK, include a network (150) of crisis pregnancy counselling centres; a Christian fostering and adoption agency; materials (especially responsible sex education materials) and support events for Christian schoolteachers and governors; rehabilitation centres for young offenders under CARE's remand fostering scheme; respite care for those responsible for children with learning difficulties or physical disabilities and confidential helplines including CARElink providing a referral service to a wide range of Christian caring agencies.

In addition to the services directly provided in the UK, CARE also provides backup in terms of training and technical support to Christian agencies providing similar services in other European countries including the 'Alternatives' crisis pregnancy centre here in Brussels. More information can be found on our website at www.care.org.uk. The loose plate offerings at all 4 services on 20 July will go towards the work of Care.

The CHS Community Helpline This English-speaking telephone help service is looking for committed volunteers. Training and supervision are provided and the next training course will take place in October. For more information, see the flyer under the porch or ring the CHS on 02/647 67 80.

SARAH PENNINGTON

At the end of this summer SARAH PENNINGTON will be heading off to teach at a special school for deaf children in the Arab world. For those of you who know Sarah, this is a continuation of her vision to live and work amongst Arabs which has grown since she was a teenager in Brussels. All the practical arrangements regarding her workplace, housing, insurance etc will be handled by her mission partners, Interserve Europe, we just need to provide the funds and cover her in prayer!

The Church Council have agreed to make Sarah one of our principal mission partners and she will also be supported by St Paul's, Tervuren. That still leaves about two-thirds of her budget which we hope to make up from donations. There are forms at the back of church which set out the various ways you can be involved in supporting Sarah and how you can receive information about her work, from committing time to prayer to making regular donations.

There are also forms explaining who Interserve Europe are and how they operate.

We plan to send Sarah off in style on Sunday 20 July with a special commissioning service at our 10.30 and 19.00 services. She needs to have all expenses covered by then, so if you would like to be involved in anyway, can I urge you to respond quickly.

For further information please either contact Richard Steel on 02/538 74 80 or through our special e-mail address allforsarah@yahoo.com.

Lift to S. England Will anyone be going to England by car on 4/5 August with space for Sarah and a small ruck-sack? If so, please contact her on 02 731 27 37.
