Holy Trinity Newsletter

9 May 2004

A warm welcome to all today especially if you are a visitor. We trust you enjoy your stay in Brussels and your worship with us today. Please join us after the morning service for coffee and drinks in the side aisle. You are most welcome to stay around and talk. If you are new please make yourself known especially to the clergy; we would be grateful if you would fill in a card at the Welcome Table.

A fully staffed crèche for babies up to 2 years old, is available during the 10.30 service over in Church House. If you would like to make use of it, an usher will show you where to go.

THE FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY ARE OFFERED IN LOVING MEMORY OF WILLY DEMOUSTIEZ

The Mission Focus  for May is the Protestant Social Centre here in Brussels.  The loose plate collection at all four services on 16 May will go towards the work of the PSC.  If you would like to support this work and know you will not be present at Holy Trinity next Sunday, please put your gift in an envelope, clearly marked for the PSC, either today or on 23 May.  Thank you.

CHAPLAIN’S NOTES

The Lord is risen!

He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!

The Opening The Bishop of London will open our renovated building on 12 June at 14.00. The service will be approximately forty minutes followed by the formal opening in the presence of five ambassadors who will represent the forty-fifty nationals who worship here in any given month. With the entry of the ten new countries to the European Union a whole new and exciting area of mission lies before this church. Let’s pray that the Lord will begin to do a new thing among us. ‘See, I have placed before you an open door.’ Revelation 3.8

Council agreed at their last meeting that the church should hold a ‘Thank offering’ over the weekend 12/13 June. The kitchen still needs to be funded (apart from the basic infrastructure) and I am very keen to see it in place by the beginning of September.

We trust that people will increasingly relate to Holy Trinity, perhaps initially it may be because of a concert (like last Saturday) or a lecture and not necessarily because it is a centre of worship. Hopefully, some of those who come for secular purposes may ‘move on’ and come to learn to serve the living God.

A great stay at the Hilton for our opening weekend! There is a special arrangement with the Hilton Hotel for former members and visitors who would like to come for the opening. We have negotiated a price of €99 per double room per night. Please contact the church office for further information.

Christianity Explored Course The Christianity Explored course is now underway and will last until Tuesday 8 June (six weeks). This second week we examine the Crucifixion of Jesus and the implication it has on our lives. I would welcome folk from all services who would like to examine again the basic tenets of the Christian faith. Even if you cannot come every week you are most welcome to come as much as you can. Details are in the letter at the back of the church. It’s in Church House at 20.00 (finish 21.30).

Apologies today in case there is still disruption in the church. Work is now underway on the lighting, the cleaning and the laying of new carpets in preparation for the grand opening on 12 June. Please listen to the notices as help will be required again this week to move the pews.

Prayer Diary & Schedule for the Spring/Summer & the AE Newsletter – all available at the back of the church today.
