The chaplain is leader of a professional team that presently includes an associate chaplain, an assistant chaplain, an administrator and a book-keeper. There are 4 readers, who preach and help lead worship and there are many other helpers on the team. We are mobile, so leaders keep leaving. But new ones keep arriving. The diocese and Church of England are seeking for a way to develop pastoral and political contact with the EU, possibly by adding to the HTB staff.
HTB is in the far-flung Church of England Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe. Bishop Geoffrey Rowell and his suffragan, Bishop David Hamid, live in the South of England, while the 260 chaplaincies are spread across Europe. The cathedral is in Gibraltar and we are one of the two pro-cathedrals (the other is in Malta). The chaplain is also chancellor of the pro-cathedral. That pro-cathedral role could develop.
